There Is A Strong Tradition In The Clinton Arkansas Chuck Wagon Races

Each year on Labor Day weekend, thousands of people converge on the small Ozark town of Clinton Arkansas for the annual World Chuck Wagon Races. For decades Clinton has been home to the races as it is where the event was founded. It’s not just a competition but a celebration of American Western History. Competitors and spectators come from as far as Canada and Calirofin and all places in between.

The History Of The Chuck Wagon Races

The event began in the 1980s with a group of friends who were looking for a way to combine their way of life with the cowboy tradition of horses and wagons. Over the years the event has grown from a small-town local event to a gathering of thousands who camp on a large parcel of land in Clinton and participate over the three-day holiday weekend. I’m sure if you ask the founders they might even tell you they started in part just because they were looking for something to do.

The Main Attraction: Chuck Wagon Racing

The centerpiece of this festival is the Chuck Wagon Race. This is where teams of two horses and a driver race around a difficult dirt track. These races are not for the faint of heart. The competitors are skilled at what they do and take tremendous risks because a crash can cause serious injury. There are several divisions for all levels of expertise and it’s all extremely exciting to watch.

Outside Of The Race

While the Chuck Wagon Races are the main attraction there is so much more to this event than just the races. Live music, amazing food, and a slew of other cowboy-style events. There are trail rides and even a cowboy church on Sunday morning. The site is lined with vendors from all over selling various types of food, merchandise, and cowboy-style apparel.

For The Whole Family

One of the biggest attractions of the event is it is designed with the family in mind. It has something for everyone from small children up. The organizers go to great lengths to ensure everyone is included and it’s a safe place to be. There is not only security but the medical staff and event staff cover the area. It would be impossible to come to the chuck wagon races and not have a good time.

How To Attend The Chuck Wagon Races?

Located just outside of town the drive up Highway 65 from the Conway exit is as smooth as they get. The scenery is beautiful and when you arrive in town the signage will guide you right into the heart of the event grounds.  You can get more information from the Chuck Wagon Races website.
